The studio
A calm room in Vallila
Everything to know before your first visit: the space, what to bring, how a class begins and how we make the studio accessible.
The space
Tall windows, a warm floor, room to breathe
The studio is one large practice room in a quiet courtyard building in Vallila, a few minutes’ walk from the nearest tram stops and about fifteen minutes by tram from the city centre.
Tall windows face the courtyard. The floor is oiled oak with underfloor heating, and the lighting can be turned down low for evening yin. There is room for eighteen mats with space to stretch your arms wide.
Next to the practice room are two changing rooms with showers and lockers, a small tea corner and a shelf of props: mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets and eye pillows.
We keep the studio scent-free and phone-free, so the only thing left to notice is your breath.

Bring very little
Please bring

- Your own mat, if you prefer it
We provide
- Mats, cleaned after every class

- Lockers with a code, showers and towels
Arriving
How a class begins
Arrive ten minutes early
The door opens twenty minutes before class. Shoes come off in the hallway, as in any Finnish home.
Tell the teacher
Mention injuries, pregnancy or anything else that matters for your practice. It stays between you and the teacher.
Phones away
Leave your phone in the locker or switch it to silent before you step into the room.
Running late?
The door closes five minutes after the start, to keep the room quiet. Join the next class instead; there is always one soon.
Accessibility
A studio for every body
- Step-free entrance from the courtyard and a level floor throughout the studio.
- An accessible toilet and shower with grab rails.
- Chairs and extra props, so you can practise with chair support in any class.
- Large-print class guides, and teachers happy to demonstrate postures up close.
- Assistance dogs are welcome.
Tell us before your first class if you need anything else. We will do our best to arrange it, and we will be honest if something is not possible.
